8Shiotsubonishi Archeological Site
This late Yayoi-period settlement occupied a hilltop overlooking the Akashi Strait. Discoveries include one of the largest Yayoi-period iron arrowheads found in Japan, along with the remains of a smoke-signal site. The site is thought to have been a lookout over the Akashi Strait, a strategic point on the sea route from the Seto Inland Sea to the territories around Kyoto.
