3Dotaku Archeological Site – Naka-no-Mido
This is the Nikkoji Dotaku excavation site, where the Buddhist temple Nikkoji is said to have stood. The Hotakuontodokeutsushi (ancient document) kept at Nikkoji Temple mentions that “Mass flooding in 1686 uncovered eight dotaku on the coast overlooking the Harimanada Sea.” Bronze swords were also excavated nearby, suggesting a connection to the Umi-no-tami.
