- Oi-no-Shimizu Spring
24Oi-no-Shimizu Spring
This is the legendary site mentioned in the Nintoku section of the Kojiki (the oldest historical record of Japan), where “morning and evening, pure water from Awaji Island is drawn and presented to the Emperor.” This indicates that it was brought to the Imperial Capital for use in the Imperial kitchen, evoking images of the Ama carrying this renowned water across Osaka Bay and suggesting a strong link with the sovereign.
