Cultural Properties

One of the mountain settlements that spread rapidly towards the end of the Yayoi period. Discovered at this site are the remains of a facility and tools for refining cinnabar from Tokushima on Shikoku into vermillion. This site elicits images of the Umi-no-tami in action, carrying these raw materials across the Naruto Strait and engaging in the production and distribution of an important material that was key to understanding the period.
