With its iconic cinnabar-colored great torii, this shrine is linked to the Onokorojima Island of the Kuniumi Story. Encircled by the ancient Mihara creek, the shrine has been revered since ancient times, known by the name Onokorojima Island. Legendary sites from the creation myth can still be found in the surrounds, including Ashihara-koku and Ame-no-ukihashi.
