Funaki Archeological Site artifacts: Salt-making earthenware and ocellated octopus pots
One of the Yayoi period mountain settlements where Iron-Age culture was adopted before the territories around Kyoto. The discovery of this large settlement extending to 40 ha, as well as a fragment of a Chinese mirror, suggests that it played a key role in the hilltop archeological site. The discovery of salt-making earthenware and ocellated octopus pots tells us that there was a relationship between the mountain settlements and the Umi-no-tami.
