Oi-no-Shimizu Spring

Climbing the mountain trail takes you to a small hut where the pure waters flow.
This is the legendary site mentioned in the Nintoku period of the Kojiki (the oldest historical record of Japan), where “morning and evening Awaji Island pure water is gathered and is presented to the Emperor.” This shows that it was brought to the Imperial Capital for use in the Imperial kitchen, which evokes images of the Ama carrying this renowned water across Osaka Bay and suggests a strong link with the sovereign.
