Shimonaizen Archeological Site

Shimonaizen Archeological Site artifacts
Main Yayoi period settlement located in the center of Awaji Island. Pottery discovered here comes from Kawachi (present-day eastern area of Osaka Prefecture), Izumi (present-day southern Osaka Prefecture), and Kii (present-day Wakayama Prefecture and southern Mie Prefecture) suggesting strong links with other regions. It also suggests the presence of the Umi-no-tami who had exchanged links across Osaka Bay.
