Gossakaito Archeological Site and Artifacts

Gossakaito Archeological Site
Iron-ware production site from the late Yayoi period. The site indicates that Iron-Age culture, which fulfilled a key role in the establishment of Japan’s ancient state, was adopted here before the territories around Kyoto. It is the site of a large foundry and numerous iron implements were unearthed here. The site tells of the production and spread of materials, and the transmission of advanced technology at the hands of the Umi-no-tami on the Seto Inland Sea.
